Elservier produce a large range of support materials for both the CrossFire Commander and the Beilstein and Gmelin databases; newly available is the CrossFire Commander 7.1 Quick User Guide (updated to take account of the new version of the client software). These support materials are free and can be found via the Mimas website.

Commander 7.1 is only available for Windows XP and Vista operating systems; Windows 2000 users should continue to use the previous version, Commander 7 SP2, which is still available for download via the link above. Mac users should continue to use Commander V6 SP1 which can also be downloaded via this link.

Commander 7.1 includes some bug fixes and a few enhancements, mainly relating to layout of the query window and ease of navigation of results; the functionality does not differ significantly from the previous version. However, the automatic nomenclature program AutoNom is no longer included due to changes in licensing. Users who wish to continue using AutoNom are advised not to upgrade from V7 SP2.
